Seasonal planting of flowers around the “Welcome to Montague” signs on the Bike Trail, on Dowling Street, at the corner of Dowling and Sheridan Streets, and at City Hall.
Seasonal plantings at Weathervane Park in the center of Montague.
We maintain a large garden of perennials, roses, shrubs and annuals in Whitehall at the intersection of Main and Mears Streets. The Whitehall to Hart, MI bicycle trail crosses through this garden.
In June, July and August we recognize one business and one residence in the community by placing a Merit Garden Award sign on the premises.
We have planted two large planters at Whitehall’s Howmet Community Playhouse.
We are developing a working/advisory relationship with Montague High School students in the FFA program. Under the leadership of teacher, (and club member), Kyle Fiebig, the students are growing food for the school cafeteria; constructing a rain garden; and researching ways to use native plants on the school property.
In May, we hold our public invited plant auction. This is our main fund raiser with almost all of the plants coming from our member’s gardens.
